Memorial Day 2012 in Harwich

A heartfelt thank you to all who served our country, and all who are still serving.

Remember to take a moment at 3 p.m. today to remember those who gave their lives for our country.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

The streets of Old Mill Point are crowded once again with neighbors greeting each other with smiles and hugs after the long winter season.

Saturday was foggy in Harwich (but beautiful on most Cape beaches...) but Sunday looks like it will be bright and clear - time to get to the beach to enjoy the new sand, fire up those grills, and relax in the sunshine with family and friends.

The Harwich Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Brooks Park, on the corner of Oak and Main Streets, starting at 10 a.m. Monday morning. The Harwich Town Band will play, the Harwich Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will act as color guards, and a few of our elected officials will speak (Angelo? Are you on the podium this year?)

Bring a lawn chair; all are welcome at this annual event to honor and remember our soldiers and veterans.

See you there!

May Sunshine

After a week of rain to wash away April, May finally showed us some sun this morning. Full disclaimer is that the clouds have already rolled back in, but this morning was gorgeous up on the beach!

The resident fisherman in my house is happy with the current fishing conditions - although he did catch his first blues already last night. Everything is early this year, it seems. Even the water is warm enough that the dogs can't resist...
Summer is on its way...
