Memorial Day 2013
Happy Memorial Day weekend to all!
While Saturday and Sunday were a bit of a cold, wet drag, Monday has dawned clear and bright. The sunrise was crisp and beautiful as the moon set over Nantucket Sound.
The annual Harwich Memorial Day ceremony starts at 9:45 a.m. at Brooks Park. The town band will play and the local scouts will serve as color guard. All are welcome to attend as we honor and remember both our veterans and those currently serving our country.

Memorial Day Weekend is Here!
Memorial Day weekend heralds the beginning of the Summer Season here on Cape Cod. Unfortunately, the weather isn't cooperating this year. The only good thing I can say about the stormy seas is that the wind is coming in from the Southwest, bringing sand back onto the Strandway beach. net goodness for us in the long run, but the short term forecast is a little bleak.
If you're headed to the Cape regardless of the weather, might I suggest adding a visit to downtown Chatham to your Sunday schedule? And here comes the Shameless Blatant Self-Promotional part of the blog -
My new book is out and I'll be having a Book Launch Party on Sunday May 26 from 2-4p.m. at Where the Sidewalk Ends on Main Street in Chatham. It's a young adult book set here in Harwich and under Nantucket Sound. It's also available on Amazon and from Barnes and Noble online, if you're not planning to brave the iffy weather. You can also call the Chatham bookstore to order up a signed copy.

Rainbows over Cape Cod
The Nauset sailing team defeated Dartmouth yesterday and was rewarded with a gorgeous rainbow that stretched over Town Cove, Orleans.

May is Here with Sunshine and Stripers!
We've enjoyed a wonderful start to the month of May, with sunny skies and warming weather. The breeze off the water is still chilly, and the fog has been rolling in this week, but it's been a great start to Spring.
And I hear the stripers are here. What more can you ask of Spring on Cape Cod?

April Vacation Week in OMP!
The Point is filled with cars and bicycles and landscapers, as neighbors come down to the Cape, getting their houses and yards in order for the onslaught of summer.
It's school vacation week in Massachusetts, perhaps the catalyst for spring visits. The ocean temperatures aren't really warm enough for anyone except my dog. But she's perfectly happy to dive right in.
We're still reeling from Monday's terrible marathon tragedy, and yesterday's devastating explosion in West, Texas. Hoping that all of our OMP friends and neighbors and families are safe and healthy.
Summer is coming....
