The View from Space...
Found this on Facebook this morning and had to share - the tag said it was a view of Cape Cod from the International Space Station. Whether real or faked, it's a pretty cool image.
Hope everyone's enjoying Presidents Weekend!

The Winter 2012 Issue of CapeWomenOnline magazine
is now online and available for your reading pleasure. Take a few
minutes to check it out, and read some of the stories and articles about
the women who call Cape Cod their home.
As the publisher's letter says, Winter on the Cape is our slow season, and a perfect time to take a few moments to take stock of your life. What makes you happy? What direction do you want to take in the coming year?
Meet a few women who have already decided how to make themselves happy, whether it's a woman starting her own "pick up" business or an artist buying an RV so she can always have a spot on the Cape to call her own. Despite the turmoil going on around us in the world, it's a great time to reassess what you want out of life, and decide to go for it.
Good advice for us all.
Many thanks to all our wonderful contributors, and our great readers. If you haven't checked out the magazine before now, what are you waiting for? If you like what you read and want to be a contributor - or just want to tell us that you like what we're doing - send me an email at Katie @ CapeWomenOnline . com (but take out the spaces before you hit send.)
Have a great weekend!

Snowman Day in Old Mill Point
We finally got our first snowstorm on Cape Cod this weekend. My
daughter has been waiting all year to make a snowman, since somehow she
never made one at all last year. I've been hearing about her plans for
months.
She spent hours outside during the storm yesterday, rolling up the balls, but couldn't lift them by herself. I told her we'd help her when it stopped snowing. Which was this morning.
This snowman reminds me of a time back in the 19070s, when we had a huge storm, and all the kids in the neighborhood worked together to build an eight foot tall snowman. We measured. Eight feet and five inches tall. We had to use a ladder to put the face on, too. My oldest son, hugging the snowman on the right, is 6'1", so my daughter's snowman rivals the one in my memory...
What's your favorite snowman memory?

Ocean Effect Snow!
While I hear it's all blue skies on the other side of the bridge today, we're having some ocean-effect snow showers here in Old Mill Point. Soft, silent, snowy day. A nice change from the high winds of the rest of the week - gusts were clocked in Harwich up to 78 mph! And it wasn't even a "storm" !! What a strange January it's been, weather-wise...

Windy Week!
Yesterday was rainy and windy - today is sunny and even more windy! It's not yet high tide as Itook these photos, and you can see the waves burying the OMP jetty that runs between SeaWay and Strandway beaches.
About 50 seagulls were huddled on the beach, just above the tide mark, staying out of the wicked wind.
Happy long weekend to all!
