Seaway Beach

On Seaway Beach this week, I ran into neighbor and her friends this week who were down for a brief visit.

She told me that she loves my blog but that you really can't see the extent of the beach erosion from the photographs I've been posting.

So my mission today was to try and capture the damage more fully on film, (to the chagrin of the dogs who just wanted to run.)

The following photos show how much of the dunes have been sucked out from behind the dune fencing, and how precarious the remaining fencing is. You can also see how the end of the walkway was damaged this week - it was fine over Easter weekend, but someone must have stepped hard on the very end either Monday or Tuesday, because it was snapped by Tuesday evening. If you plan to visit the beach, please be careful stepping on and off the walkway, for your own safety.

On the bright side, the weather has been much sunnier this week, if not a lot warmer yet (it's still barely in the 50s around here.) The grass is greening and the flowers are starting to bloom. Spring is here! Hope to see you in the neighborhood soon!
